Negev Field Trip

Yesterday (September 14) we had our field trip to Be'ersheva and Tel Arad in the southern part of Israel. It was about a 2.5 hour drive, and then we spent over an hour at each site. Basically everything looks like this-- brown, dusty, ruins, desert, no shade.
After those two sites, and we thought it was time to head back, we are dripping in sweat, they decided we should stop at Dr. Chadwick's excavation site in Gath (where Goliath grew up). We hiked up this MOUNTAIN...literally like going halfway up the Y. It was super dusty and rocky, and I wanted to kill this dumb boot my foot is still in.

When we got back to our busses, we heard the ice cream truck...? He had seen our big busses and was waiting for us to get back from our hike because he knew the dumb tourists would spent 20 shekels on a Magnum ice cream bar...! That's $5!

Bro Muhelstein's kids got to come with us on this field trip because they had school off for the Jewish New Year holiday -- Rosh Hashanah.
